São Paulo, Brazil (Tuesday, 10/14/2014, Gaudium Press) – The Liturgy Commissions of the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo, Brazil, takes important steps for the enhancement of liturgical music in the animation of the life of the communities.

Different meetings have taken place in all the deaneries of the archdiocese and the Liturgical Commission of the Sé area, which includes the cathedral, has excelled in this endeavor.

Another mayor meeting has been announced, which will take place on the 21 and 22 of October, entitle “Formation Meeting of Liturgical Music”, and the Liturgy Commission has invited all parish and groups involved in liturgy to participate in this meeting.

Cardinal Geraldo Majella Agnelo has emphasized the importance of this effort by stating that “Singing in the Liturgy is not something secondary or just irrelevant, as to keep the faithful busy during the celebration of the Paschal Mystery, but it is a significant part of the public worship of the Church.” The meeting will be conducted by Professor Márcio de Almeida – Liturgist and Doctor in Music, and a member of the Reflection Team in Liturgical Music of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB).
