Rome – (Wednesday, 01/07/2015, Gaudium Press) – The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, blessed the new premises of the Pontifical North American College in Rome. On that occasion, talking to American journalists, he said that New York and Washington are possible destinations, as well a visit to the United Nations.
However, Cardinal Parolin clarified that yet “there is no confirmation”. On the possible visit to the UN headquarters he said: “I think the Pope will go to the United Nations, everyone is talking about it … but no official announcement has yet been done.”
Pope Francis, on November 17 last year, announced a visit to the United States to take place during the conference “Humanum” which deals with the complementarities of man and woman, and that he would participate in the World Meeting of Families which will be held in Philadelphia, from September 22 to 27. However, the program of the trip has not yet been disclosed. (JSG)
