Seminar “The Joy of Family" in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique (Wednesday, 05/27/2015, Gaudium Press) – In Maputo, Mozambique, from the 28th to the 31st of May, the Council of the Bishops Conferences of Europe (CCEE) and the Symposium of Bishops Conferences of Africa and Madagascar ( SECAM) will run a seminar on the theme “The joy of family.”

These two institutions are promoting events aiming to strengthen communion and collaboration between bishops of the two continents.

The bishops will discuss issues related to the family under the focus of the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis and in connection with the reflections that will be addressed at the next Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Family, in October 2015.

According to the organizers, the seminar will focus on the family in Africa and in Europe as protagonists of evangelization, but without forgetting that, at the same time, these same families needs to be evangelized.

A great range of topics are to be discussed. Among them are: “The anthropological, social and ecclesial challenges of the family; The joys and sufferings of the family: pastoral challenges; The bishop’s mission in proclaiming the Gospel of the Family and The role of the Church and the bishops in the dialogue with society and with the States regarding the family.”

The meeting will be hosted by the President of the Bishops Conference of Mozambique, Bishop Lucius Muandula, and it will be presided by the Archbishop of Lubango, Angola, Archbishop Gabriel Mbilingi, President of SECAM and a representative of the President of the CCEE, Cardinal Péter Erdo, Archbishop of Budapest, Hungary.

At the end of the seminar, the bishops will issue a final message with the conclusions of the meeting. (JSG)
