Avellaneda, Argentina (Wednesday, 06/24/2015, Gaudium Press) The replica of the Shroud of Turin has arrived on Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Avellaneda and it will be displayed until July 1 for the veneration of the faithful.
The program of the visit provides for each day Masses, confessions, adoration, a time for prayer and supplication, along with the documentary “Shroud – History of a mystery.” This exhibition coincides with the visit of Pope Francis to Turin, where the Holy Shroud is being displayed there to the public.
“The Shroud is a challenge to the intellect due to the extraordinary representation of Christ in His passion. Since it is not a matter of faith, the Church has no specific competence to make a judgment on this matter. It bestows to the scientists the task of continuing with the research and finding the proper answers to the questions raised by this cloth in which, according to tradition, the body of the Redeemer was wrapped after he was taken from the cross” reads the notice quoting St. John Paul II.
