Washington, DC, USA (Wednesday, 12/16/2015, Gaudium Press) On 12 and 13 December took place in most parishes in the United States the collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious sponsored for the last 28 years by the National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO), in order to support the needs of religious and elderly priests, who do not receive assistance from their communities.
– raise funds for retired religious;
– help religious institutes realistically assess their current retirement needs and implement planning;
– educate religious institutes to allocate assets realistically;
– develop educational tools, programs, services and resource materials that enable religious institutes to address retirement wisely.
A Mercer Human Resources Consulting report commissioned by NRRO projected that by 2030 religious institutes will face a retirement deficit of $9.6 billion. Mercer Actuarial Study
The NRRO and the Resource Center for Religious currently are working with Mercer Human Resources Consulting to validate and update the mortality tables for women and men religious. Religious institutes are encouraged to contribute to this effort by submitting census data using the Mercer Study Input Form.
