The desecration of the Holy Sacrament was recorded on video.
Newsroom (06/08/2021 23:55, Gaudium Press) On Thursday, 5 August, around 3 p.m., two people entered the Cathedral of Hermosillo, Mexico, and destroyed a monstrance in which the Blessed Sacrament was exposed; they then proceeded to desecrate the most Holy Sacrament.
“Today, August 5, around 3 p.m., two persons destroyed part of a side door of the Cathedral of the Assumption, entered, and desecrated the Eucharist, destroying the monstrance in which it was exposed. Let us pray in reparation and for peace in our country,” the Archdiocese of Hermosillo posted on its Facebook account.
According to the Archdiocese, the intention to profane Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is clear.
This incident appears to be part of a wave of orchestrated attacks: it is the third desecration of the Blessed Sacrament to occur in Mexico within a period of 9 days. In the Diocese of Cuernavaca, two churches were attacked, on 27 and 31 July; on both of these occasions, the Eucharist was stolen.
The desecration in the Cathedral of Hermosillo was recorded on video, which will be submitted to the authorities with a corresponding complaint.
This is not the first time that the Cathedral of Hermosillo has been targeted: a year ago, a group of feminists committed acts of vandalism in this religious space.
