The consecration of the State of Minas Gerais to Our Lady of Piety took place on 31 July 1960.

Minas Gerais – Belo Horizonte (27/07/2021 11:45 AM, Gaudium Press) Next Wednesday 28th July, a triduum will lead the occasion of the jubilee of 61 years since the proclamation of Our Lady of Piety as patroness of Minas Gerais, with the theme “In the arms of the Virgin of Piety, the people of Minas Gerais find consolation, support and hope”.

Each day of the triduum will follow a different topic: the first day will be ‘Queen of Minas: keeper of the simple’; the second day, ‘Queen of Minas: comforter of the afflicted’; and the third and last day, ‘Queen of Minas: Model of meekness and trust in God’.

Jubilee and Feast of Our Lady of Piety

Until July 30th, Holy Masses will be celebrated at 9am and 3pm with Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM. On July 31, when the proclamation of Our Lady of Piety as patroness of Minas Gerais is celebrated, in addition to Masses and the Rosary, a cultural presentation will take place at 8pm.

Up to the month of  October, the pilgrimage schedule to the Basilica Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piety will become more and more intense. On September 15, the faithful will celebrate the Jubilee of their Patroness and the Feast of Our Lady of Piety.

Consecration of Minas Gerais to Our Lady of Piety

The consecration of the State of Minas Gerais to Our Lady of Piety occurred on July 31, 1960, after a decree by Pope Saint John XXIII, through the apostolic letter “Haeret animia”, on November 20, 1958.

In preparation for this date, on the 15th of each month, the faithful participate in a Jubilee Mass and Novena that can be followed through TV Horizonte (30 HDTV), Radio America (AM 750) and social media. (EPC)
