The prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments said Queen Elizabeth dedicated herself “tirelessly to serving her people, but also entrusted them to God’s protection.”
Newsroom (11/09/2022 4:45 PM Gaudium Press) After learning of the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle, the newly created Cardinal Arthur Roche, prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and who is English, praised the late queen.
The cardinal stressed that Queen Elizabeth dedicated herself “tirelessly to serving her people, but also entrusted them to God’s protection,” and that she bore witness to Christian values such as the common good, family life, and peace and concord among peoples.
Cardinal Roche asked God to give rest in peace to that “great soul.”
“Her kindness, political skill and love for her people in the various countries, cultures and religions of the Commonwealth testified to a unique and unbroken bond of dedication to the service of others. She was greatly loved by all,” the cardinal also expressed in his statement.
