A parish in the diocese of Madrid, Spain, was desecrated and had its tabernacle stolen last week.
Newsroom (14/02/2023 11:25 PM, Gaudium Press) The parish of San Pedro Apostol, in the city of Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias, 70 kilometers from the capital and belonging to the archdiocese of Madrid, was invaded in the early hours of last Wednesday, February 8th.
The church tabernacle as well as the consecrated hosts that were deposited there were stolen. Donations made by the faithful, next to the place where candles are lit, were also stolen.
The parish sacristy was completely ransacked by thieves looking for other valuables. The Archdiocese of Madrid has announced that a Mass of reparation will be celebrated shortly in the desecrated church.
The mayor of the city of Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias, Fran Díaz Rodríguez, issued an official statement on the desecration.
He stated that vandalism is an attack against property and also against religious freedom.
He informed that the Civil Guard is investigating the case and asked for the collaboration of people who have any information capable of identifying those responsible.
