Newsroom (16/01/2022 7:53 AM, Gaudium Press) Yesterday, Pope Francis appointed the new head of the office of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments: Fr. Pierre Paul, Oblate of the Virgin Mary (OMV).
Fr. Paul, previously served from 2007 to 2015 as choirmaster of the Cappella Giulia, the choir of the Vatican Basilica and was already an official in the dicastery.
New appointments
In addition, Pope Francis appointed a new Military Ordinary Bishop for Poland: Bishop Wiesław Lechowicz.
Most Rev. Wiesław Lechowicz is the delegate for the pastoral care of migrants in the Polish Bishops’ Conference. He is the committee chairman for the Polish Diaspora and Poles abroad. Lechowicz is also a member of the commissions for the clergy, for migrants, tourism and pilgrimages.
Next, Francis appointed two new Bishops at the Major Syro-Malabarese Archiepiscopal Church of India. After accepting the resignation of Archbishop George Njaralakatt as Metropolitan Archbishop of Tellicherry (India), he appointed Archbishop Joseph Pamplany and named Most. Rev. Peter Kochupuruckal as the new Bishop of Palghat (India), after the resignation of Bishop Jacob Manathodath, who is turning 75 in February.
