Hungary calls national referendum on European Union latest demands against Child Protection Laws

Hungary faces the European Union and does not shy away. Prime Minister Orbán calls on the people.

Newsdesk (July 27, 2021 9:00 PM, Gaudium Press) Politicians in Brussels were not pleased in regards to the most recent law approved in Hungary – the child protection law. It defines that “pornography and content that depicts sexuality or promotes gender identity deviance, sex change or homosexuality must not be accessible to minors under the age of 18.”

The European Union -quite reluctant to condemn the atrocities committed by Cuban communists- seems now bent on destroying the Hungarian government’s defence of the family, including the right of parents to educate their children.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, declared that the law goes “against all the fundamental values of the European Union.” Hungary, in turn, affirmed that “the recently adopted Hungarian Bill” seeks to protect “the rights of children” and guarantee “the rights of parents.”The Bill, they noted, does not apply to the sexual orientation of those over 18. Therefore, “it does not contain any discriminatory element.”

In fact, as the Hungarian authorities assure us, the Bill intends to prevent the indoctrination of minors concerning homosexual and sex-change propaganda, providing protection of minors against pedophilia and pornography. Furthermore, the Bill establishes that sex education classes in schools “may not be designed to promote gender segregation, sex change, or homosexuality.”

The Hungarian Justice Minister, Judit Varga, also reported that none of the Union countries had contacted the Hungarian authorities “to clarify the meaning of the words and the real areas of application of the law.”
She insisted that the new legislation supports the right of parents to educate their children according to their convictions.

However, the attacks seem to continue. The European Commission has initiated legal action against Hungary and Poland for their child protection laws and limiting LGBT ideological propaganda.

Upcoming Referendum

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced last Wednesday a referendum: “I ask you to say ‘no’ to these issues, as we said ‘no’ five years ago, when Brussels wanted to force immigrants into Hungary. A referendum and the common will stopped Brussels,” Orbán stressed.

According to Europa Press, the prime minister also noted that Hungarian laws “do not allow sexual ads in kindergartens and schools, on television, and in commercials” and indicated that “Brussels is now demanding an amendment to the Education Act and child protection regulations.”

In several countries, LGBT activists visit schools to discuss sexual issues. Orbán added, “here they want that too, and so the Brussels bureaucrats are threatening and initiating infringement proceedings, i.e. abusing their power. The future of our children is at stake and we cannot ignore this issue.”

Referendum Questions

The content of the referendum will include:

Do you support conducting sexual orientation workshops for minors in public schools without parental consent?
Do you support promoting gender reassignment procedures on children?
Do you support making gender reassignment procedures available to minors?
Do you support unrestricted presentations of media content of a sexual nature affecting minors development?
Do you support showing to minors audiovisual resources about gender reassignment?
