In Argentina, Archbishop of Salta Appoints Two Exorcists to his Diocese

The move has caused controversy, namely among liberal Catholics, who claim that the ministry of exorcism is outdated.

Newsroom (16/11/2022 10:04 AM , Gaudium Press) Recently, Archbishop Mario Antonio Cargnello of Salta, Argentina, has appointed two exorcists to his archdiocese: Fr. Loyola Pinto y de Sancristóval, and Fr. Héctor Fernando Campero.

The devil remains committed to turning souls away from God, inviting them, through temptation, to sin. For this reason, we can affirm that this is the worst of evils, and the cause of so many others. This is generally called the ‘ordinary action of the devil'”, warned Archbishop Cargnello in a signed statement.

The devil ‘- he noted-“can act in an extraordinary way through the infestation of places, vexation, and most extremely, in possession.”

The new exorcists will battle against all of these demonic actions. No less  attention was drawn to the controversy caused by the appointments, namely among liberal Catholics, who believe that the ministry of exorcism is outdated.

“He who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil is a sinner from the beginning. This is why the Son of God was manifested: to destroy the works of the devil,” says St. John (I John, 3:8). This is why Christ came, and this is why His Church remains, to destroy both the ordinary and the extraordinary work of the fallen angel,” concluded the Archbishop in his communiqué.
