Mexico’s Cathedral promotes Confessions Marathon

The faithful are invited to participate in nine continuous hours in which priests will be completely available to hear confessions.

Newsroom (24/11/2021 8:40 PM, Gaudium Press) Next Friday, November 26, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico will host the 10th edition of the Day of Forgiveness, also known as “the marathon of confessions.”

Nine continuous hours of confessions

Mexican faithful are being invited to participate in the initiative, held on the eve of Advent 2021. It consists of nine continuous hours when priests will be continually available to hear confessions.

For the seventh consecutive year, the event will take place in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico, Mother Church of all the temples of the Primate Archdiocese of Mexico. The Day of Forgiveness will open at 9am and run until 6pm.

Invitation to Priests

On a communiqué, Fr. Dr. Juan Carlos Guerrero, Penitentiary Canon of the Cathedral of Mexico, extended an invitation to all archdiocesan priests interested in attending. Each priest will be available for a period of two hours.

Advent is a liturgical time of the Catholic Church in preparation for Christmas. This time is considered a time of penance, so traditionally, the faithful are invited to practice fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. This year, Advent will begin on November 28 and ends on December 24. (EPC)
