Police officers of Daniel Ortega’s dictatorship forced Mass outside the church. Parishioners receive communion through the fence.
Newsroom (19/08/2022 11:00 AM Gaudium Press) Last Tuesday, Ortega’s police locked Fr Sebastian Lopez in his church, Santa Lucia Parish, in Ciudad Darío, department of Matagalpa.
The shock troops intended to prevent Mass from taking place.
But Fr López celebrated in the atrium, and at communion time, he went to the fence, where several parishioners were able to receive the consecrated host in the street and through the wire fence.
Later, the parish’s social media posted: “One day your children will ask you, why do they want to touch God with dirty hands? And on that day, their souls will hurt.”
Meanwhile, Fr. Óscar Benavidez, arrested on Sunday in Mulukukú for no reason, continues to be imprisoned in the cells of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, the infamous “El Nuevo Chipote,” in Managua.
For his part, Bishop Álvarez was arrested this morning. The saga continues.
