Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) New Online Retreat for Priests

The Retreat focuses on the foundational charism of the PMS and the testimony of its founders.

Newsroom (22/03/2022 1:40 PM, Gaudium Press) The Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of the American Continent are promoting a Lenten Retreat, in a virtual format, which will take place from March 23rd to 25th, always in two daily sessions, at 8 am and 1 pm (EST).

Theme and objective of the POM Lenten Retreat

Although this Retreat, which will follow the theme “On the road to a missionary conversion,” is intended for priests, registration, which closes this Tuesday 22nd, has been extended to ordained ministers and consecrated life from all continents.

This initiative aims to deepen the foundational charism of the POM and get to know a little more about the testimony of the founders of the works: Paulina Jaricot, Bishop Forbin-Janson, Jeanne Bigard and Paul Manna.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle will be present at the event.

Among those invited to guide the reflections are Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples; and the members of the International Executive Committee of the POM: Archbishop Giampietro Dal Toso, Archbishop and International President of the POM; Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, Secretary-General of the Pontifical Missionary Union; Father Guy Bognon, PSS, Secretary General of the Pontifical Work of St. Peter the Apostle; Sister Roberta Tremarelli, Secretary-General of the Pontifical Work of Holy Childhood; and Father Tadeusz Jan Nowak, Secretary General of the Pontifical Work for the Propagation of the Faith.

This Lenten Retreat is being held within the Jubilee celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the creation of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. It also marks the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Pontifical Work for the Propagation of the Faith (POPF), 100 years since Pope Pius XI gave it a Pontifical Approval, and the 150th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Paul Manna.
