Awaiting this afternoon’s medical bulletin from the Vatican Press Office with the results of the Pope’s laboratory tests.

Newsroom (23/02/2025 14:33, Gaudium Press) The Vatican Press Office’s morning medical report was more encouraging after yesterday’s alarm, which announced that the Pope had received blood transfusions due to reduced platelets and anemia, and had been given high-flow oxygen: the Pontiff had a peaceful night.

However, shortly thereafter, Vatican News announced that Francis “resumed using high-flow nasal oxygen” and that clinical analyses are underway, with results “expected in this afternoon’s bulletin.”

Rumors have increased, coming from usually well-informed sources, that the Pope is suffering from septicemia, the presence of bacteria in the bloodstream, which was one of the great fears expressed by doctors at Friday’s press conference at the Gemelli Polyclinic. If this is the case, the medical team’s struggle will also be to combat this septicemia to prevent septic shock, where there is a drastic drop in blood pressure, potentially leading to multiple organ failure. Prayers for Pope Francis are increasing worldwide.
