Pope Francis continues to receive oxygen but does not have a fever, announced the Holy See Press Office on Sunday evening, March 2. His prognosis remains guarded. He participated in the Eucharistic celebration this morning.
Newsroom (03/02/2025 3:15 PM, Gaudium Press ) “The Holy Father’s clinical condition remained stable today, Sunday, March 2,” the Holy See Press Office reported on Sunday evening. Pope Francis “did not need non-invasive mechanical ventilation, but only high-flow oxygen therapy, and he has no fever.”
Given the complexity of his clinical condition, the prognosis remains guarded.
This morning, “the Holy Father participated in Holy Mass with those caring for him during these days in the hospital and then alternated between rest and prayer.”
Francis thanks everyone for their prayers
To aid his recovery, the medical team at Gemelli Hospital, where Francis has been hospitalized for 17 days, prescribed total rest. He did not appear before the thousands of pilgrims who usually do not miss the opportunity to pray the midday Angelus with him. However, his heart remained entirely devoted to them. From the hospital, the Holy Father sent this message:
“Sisters and brothers, I send you these thoughts still from the hospital, where, as you know, I have been for several days, cared for by doctors and health professionals, to whom I am grateful for their attentive care.
“I would like to thank everyone whose prayers rise to the Lord from the hearts of so many faithful in many parts of the world: I feel all your affection and closeness, and in this particular moment, I feel ‘carried’ and supported by the entire People of God. Thank you all!”
