Newsroom (September, 21, 2021 12:30 PM Gaudium Press) On October 18, another edition of the annual prayer initiative promoted by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) entitled “One Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace” will take place. The campaign is an incentive for children around the world to pray for peace and unity among men, and to teach them to seek God’s help in difficult times.
This year’s initiative will be based on the Apostolic Letter ‘Patris corde’.
This year’s campaign will have St. Joseph as its theme, based on the Apostolic Letter ‘Patris corde’, written by Pope Francis on the occasion of the Year of St. Joseph and the 150th anniversary of his proclamation as Universal Patron of the Church. For this reason, the little ones will be encouraged to pray hand in hand with Our Lady and under the protection of St. Joseph.
The importance of prayer asking God for salvation for the world
The International President of ACN, Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, pointed out that Saint Joseph, as Universal Patron of the Church, “is a great example for us of how God can make all things good through our prayer, fidelity and obedience to His Word.” Moreover, recalling the many difficulties we face in our day, he stresses the importance of prayer asking God for salvation for the world.
Origin of the “One Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace” campaign
Started in 2005 in Venezuela, the campaign heeds the words of Holy Father Pius who said that “if a million children pray the Rosary, the world will change. In this way, not just one million, but many millions of children from all over the world will unite for one day, during the month of the Rosary in October, to bring a little more Heaven to our land,” the Cardinal emphasized. Moreover, according to the Cardinal, this experience has demonstrated on several occasions that the prayer of children “has a great impact.” (EPC)
