More than 230,000 rosaries have already been prayed asking for the resurrection of Lebanon and an era of peace and brotherhood in Christ Jesus.

Lebanon – Beirut (22/07/2021 15:24, Gaudium Press) “Rosary for Lebanon” is the title of the international initiative scheduled to take place next Saturday, 24th, Feast day of Saint Charbel. The prayer meeting is promoted by the Pontifical Missionary Union (PUM) and by the International Center for Missionary Animation (CIAM).

Fr. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, OFM, secretary-general of PUM, noted that “after Pope Francis’ meeting with the leaders of Christian communities in Lebanon on July 1, 2021, an international prayer movement promoted by various Catholic groups and communities to ask for peace and salvation for Lebanon was born, in which the Pontifical Missionary Works intend to be involved.”

Recitation of the rosary for 33 days

Lebanese from all over the world and friends of Lebanon are invited to pray the rosary daily for 33 consecutive days, at 7:30 pm (Rome time), ending on August 4. The date marks one year after the tragic explosion in the port of Beirut.

The website www.33jours.com offers daily specific intentions for Lebanon, such as the recovery of the economic and political situation, for the poor, for doctors, for children and the unemployed.

230 thousand rosaries prayed for Lebanon

More than 230 thousand rosaries have already been prayed “asking for the resurrection of Lebanon and an era of peace and brotherhood in Christ Jesus. We entrust this intention to the loving hands of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In prayer all together, we believe that Lebanon will rise again”, emphasizes Father Dinh.

The initiative also counts with the support of Rouphael Zgheib, National Director of the PMS in Lebanon; Father Joseph Sfeir, Pastor of the Lebanese Maronite parish in Rome; and Pascale Debbané, Regional Coordinator for “Migrants and Refugees” at the Vatican Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development.
