Newsroom (12/02/2025 18:13, Gaudium Press) The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima, located in Portugal, has released the program prepared to celebrate the liturgical Feast of the Little Shepherds, celebrated on February 20, the day St. Jacinta Marto died.
Preparatory novena for the liturgical
feast On Tuesday, February 11, the novena for the feast will begin, with a reflection centered on the life and spirituality of the Holy Shepherds. This prayer initiative will continue until the eve of this liturgical memorial.
Each day, the Portuguese shrine will post a proposal for prayer and reflection on its official social media profiles, as well as a podcast episode produced in collaboration with the Covenant of St. Mary.
Veneration of the relics of the Little Shepherds of Fatima
Throughout this period of novena, every day at 6pm, there will be a moment of veneration at the tombs of the Little Shepherds, located in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima.
On the 19th, the eve of the Liturgical Feast, the Holy Rosary is scheduled to be recited in the Chapel of the Apparitions at 21:30. Afterwards, the devotees will go in procession to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima to take part in a Vigil of Prayer and Veneration of the Relics of St. Francisco and St. Jacinta Marto.
Liturgical Feast of St. Francis and St. Jacinta Marto
The program for February 20 will begin at 10 a.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Chapel of the Apparitions. Then there will be a procession with the icons of the saints to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, where the Liturgical Feast Mass will be celebrated.
At 2pm, the Marian Basilica will host a meeting with the 2nd cycle students from the schools of Fátima, who will have a catechesis on the lives of the Holy Shepherds, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary. The meeting will be guided by the Holy Year and the theme of consecration. A Jubilee prayer of consecration adapted for children will be prayed. (EPC)
