Currently most of the perpetual adoration chapels have returned to their normal activities, as before the start of the pandemic, and another five have been opened in the following regions: San Manuel, Granada, Tarragona, Manresa and Toledo.
Newsroom (21/06/2022 12:11, Gaudium Press) The number of chapels of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is growing in Spain. In March 2020 there were 65 in the whole country, now there are 70. Only three of them have had to close during the night for lack of adorers.
The growth is impressive because it has occurred in the middle of the pandemic, when many worshippers were forced to remain confined to their homes, others died because of Covid-19 and some abandoned their posts, often prevented by family members, for fear of infection.
Five new chapels of perpetual Eucharistic adoration
“Adoration is slowly returning to normal, and new chapels continue to be opened,” said Javier Taberner, assistant of Father Justo Lofeudo, the main promoter of Perpetual Adoration in Spain.
Currently most of the perpetual adoration chapels have returned to their normal activities, as before the start of the pandemic, and another five have been opened in the following regions: San Manuel, Granada, Tarragona, Manresa and Toledo.
The faithful are re-evaluating the importance of having the Lord near us
According to Taberner, at the beginning of the pandemic, most chapels closed their doors and others remained open throughout the day. “There was no specific directive, each one followed the indications of their dioceses,” he assured.
“I believe it can be said that perpetual adoration in Spain has returned to the normal in more than 90% and even with greater force, because people are revaluing the importance of being able to have the Lord close to us 24 hours a day. In reality, He is the one who gives us the gift,” concluded Javier Taberner. (EPC)
