Newsroom (19/06/2023 08:11, Gaudium Press) The Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity is celebrating its first International Mission Symposium (SIM), The theme is “Passion for the Word” and will be held at its House of Spirituality located in Loeches, Madrid, from June 20 to 30, 2023.
The event is Ccoordinated by Fr. Rodrigo Carrizo Moya, president of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity and will gather priests and religious, missionary couples, consecrated lay missionaries and missionary disciples from the five continents. Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra, Archbishop Emeritus and Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Madrid, will preside the opening Mass on Tuesday, June 20.
This first International Mission Symposium is rooted on the 2018’s Fifth General Congress, aimed at deepening “our identity and mission, methods and means, expression, incarnation and inculturation of the charism, prioritizing the missionary and prophetic impulse.”
The Symposium is part of a series of events leading to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Verbum Dei’s Foundation. Among them, a missionary music festival on June 24, 2023 in Loeches (Madrid) followed by a June 25 memorial Mass marking the sixth anniversary of the death of the founder, Fr. Jaime Bonet Bonet.
The Symposium will focus on fidelity to the foundational charism across the six continents, shaped in “prayer, ministry of the Word and witness of life” . The organizers want to open new dimensions for missionary commitment around the wrld, expanding the possibilities of a more effective and fruitful Verbum Dei as a gift to the universal Church.
