Spanish City is Home to a Chocolate Nativity Scene

A Giant Nativity Scene Made of Chocolate is the Work of a Group of Master Chocolatiers from Spain.

Newsroom (22/12/2022 16:35, Gaudium PressThe Spanish town of Ruth, in Cordoba, is home to one of the most unusual nativity scenes in the world.

The nativity scene made of chocolate is an initiative of the master Ruth of Galleros Artesanos, a company specialized in the manufacture of sweets and chocolates.

The nativity scene was first created in 2000, and since then, every year the nativity scene presents different themes. This year’s theme is inspired by traditional Christmas scenes: the ancient cities of Israel.

To build the 60m² crib, at least 1,500 kilos of chocolate are needed. Jorge Garrido, one of the organizers of the amazing piece, explains that the construction of the nativity scene starts right after the Holy Week.

First, the master chocolatiers work on planning the theme and the pieces, and then begin the elaboration of the different elements of the nativity scene.

In all, seven master chocolatiers work on the construction of the crib, which is on display from the beginning of October until January 6.

After the Christmas holidays, students from some schools in Cordoba are invited by the chocolate factory to take apart the crib. (FM)
