Two Catholic teenagers were assaulted and threatened with death, in France, near their parish.
Newsroom (07/09/2022 10:22 PM, Gaudium Press) A 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were assaulted near the church of St. Bernadette in the French town of Rambouillet.
According to police reports, the two teenagers were insulted for being Christians and threatened with death before being assaulted last Sunday night.
The assailants, who are also teenagers, repeatedly struck the 17-year-old’s face.
Two attackers were detained by the police. The participation of the third teenager in the assault is still being investigated.
The suspects were arrested for willful violence and religious discrimination and remain in police custody.
The previous day, September 3, a makeshift mosque caught fire in the same location.
The causes of the fire are still being investigated, as Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin himself reported.
Some people believe Sunday’s attack on the young Christians is a kind of revenge for the burning of the Muslim prayer room, although the mosque fire has not been confirmed as “arson” by the authorities. (FM)
