Padre Pio is known worldwide. His humility in the face of incomprehension, his advice in confession, and his extraordinary and sometimes picturesque deeds have won the devotion of faithful throughout the world.
Newsroom (23/09/2022 21:00, Gaudium Press) Today the Catholic Church celebrates the memory of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.
Padre Pio, a Franciscan friar who lived in Italy in the 20th century, conquered the world with his stigma, miracles, advice, and above all with his example of faith, obedience and humility.
There are countless miracles and supernatural interventions that were operated through Padre Pio during his lifetime. We record here only two extraordinary facts, out of many others, which were accomplished through the intervention of Padre Pio.
The Broken Car
Attracted by the fame of Padre Pio, people came from all parts of Italy in search of the friar in San Giovanni Rotondo. A couple from the town of Ascoli Piceno decided to make a trip to confess to Padre Pio.
After they both received the sacrament of reconciliation, the man tried to leave, but his car would not start.
Night was falling when Padre Pio found the couple still in the convent and asked them what they were still doing in the convent.
The man explained to the Capuchin that his vehicle would not start. Padre Pio asked the man to show him the car. When he arrived at the car, it ran without any problems.
The couple was able to drive about 300 kilometers to their residence. The next day, the owner of the car consulted a mechanic.
The mechanic explained that the car’s electrical system was all screwed up and he could not understand how the car had managed to cover more than 300 kilometers the night before.
The severely burned girl
A couple went to church to attend Holy Mass while their little daughter stayed at home with her grandparents and an uncle.
Because of an accident, a pan of boiling water fell on the little girl and caused a huge burn on the front and back of her body.
The doctor was immediately called to attend to the little girl. However, the doctor said there was nothing he could do because of the severity of the wound, and the only solution was to take her to the hospital at the risk of having no treatment to save her.
After the doctor left, the girl’s mother prayed and asked for Padre Pio’s intercession while the little girl stayed in her room.
As the family was hastily preparing to go to the hospital, the little girl came out of her room and explained to her mother that she was cured:
“Padre Pio came here and he touched his hand over the wound,” the little girl said calmly showing her mother that the wound was no longer there. The mother attributes the achievement to the Capuchin saint. (FM)
