“Catholic” President Joe Biden has promised that if the Democrats retain control of Congress, the first bill he will enact will be on abortion rights in the United States.

Newsroom (23/10/2022 12:00 PM, Gaudium Press) On Tuesday, 8 November, the U.S. will vote to renew a many members of the House of Representatives and dozens of Governors.

On that day, 34 of the 100 senators will be chosen, the House of Representatives (Deputies) will be completely renewed, and 435 deputies will be elected for a period of 2 years. 36 states will also elect their Governors. In other words, the legislature and most of the local administrative powers will be renewed.

But what will be the first legislative initiative that Biden will promote if the Democrats have a majority in both chambers? Before economic measures, or migration, or anything else, Joe Biden will provide abortion, codified as Federal Law, to Americans.

“This is my promise to you and to the American people: the first bill I will send to Congress will be to codify Roe v. Wade,” Biden said in a speech at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) event held at the Howard Theatre in Washington, DC. Roe v. Wade was the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that opened the door to abortion in the country in 1973 and which was overturned a few months ago by a Republican-majority Supreme Court.

“And when Congress approves it, I am going to sign it in January, 50 years after it was decided that Roe v. Wade is the law of the land,” he added, in a yet again puzzling statement. If it had already been established as law, why legislate on it again?

“We are short of a few votes. If you care about the right to choose, you have to vote,” he urged. “Vote, vote, vote!”

There are currently 48 Democratic senators, 2 independents (often aligned with Democrats) and 50 Republicans, with a tie-breaking vote for Vice President Harris, a Democrat. In the House of Representatives there are 220 Democrats and 210 Republicans.

It is obvious that a Democratic ability to maintain dominance is fragile, and that a slight variation in numbers could put both chambers in Republican hands.

There are many of polls, but a majority are showing Biden to be highly discredited; perhaps the President of the United States is looking to use the abortion issue in an attempt to boost his numbers.
