Newsroom (13/09/2022 11:13, Gaudium Press)The Vatican Apostolic Library has just launched a new academic journal entitled ‘Vatican Library Review’. This is an international journal, which publishes scientific articles from different fields and is accepting papers written in English, German, French and Italian.
Biannual publication
The Vatican Library Review will be published twice a year in both its print and digital versions, bringing together articles and brief notes among other texts such as conference reports, abstracts of completed dissertations and book reviews. The first issue of the publication can be accessed by going directly to the Vatican Library’s website.
The purpose of the journal is to foster in a special way contributions resulting from innovative ideas and approaches, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration. In this context, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Vatican librarian and archivist, encouraged the scientific community to join him “in this double effort of scientific rigor and intercultural dialogue.”
Vatican Apostolic Library
The Vatican Apostolic Library is one of the largest, most important, and oldest libraries in the world, holding more than 80,000 manuscripts, 1.6 million books, and collections of medals and coins. In March 2014, a project to digitize its manuscripts was started with the aim of making them available on the internet.(EPC)
