The Vatican Press Office reported that Pope Francis’ participation in these celebrations is still uncertain, depending solely on his health improvement.

Newsroom (27/03/2025, Gaudium Press) The Vatican’s Office for Liturgical Celebrations released the official schedule for the Holy Masses and ceremonies from April 13 to April 27, 2025. These key events will mark the Church’s celebration of Easter, Divine Mercy, and the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis.

Palm Sunday and Chrism Mass – April 13-17

The celebrations kick off on Palm Sunday, April 13, with the Palm Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Square, scheduled for 10:00 AM (local time). The Chrism Mass will take place on Holy Thursday, April 17, at St. Peter’s Basilica at 9:30 AM (local time).

Good Friday: Passion of the Lord and Stations of the Cross – April 18

On Good Friday, April 18, the Passion of the Lord will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Basilica at 5:00 PM (local time). Later that evening, at 9:15 PM (local time), the Stations of the Cross will take place at the Colosseum.

Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday – April 19-20

The Easter Vigil will begin on the night of Holy Saturday, April 19, at 7:30 PM (local time). Easter Mass will take place on Easter Sunday, April 20, at 10:30 AM (local time), followed by the traditional Urbi et Orbi blessing.

Divine Mercy Sunday and Carlo Acutis Canonization – April 27

On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, a historic ceremony will take place with the Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis at 10:30 AM (local time). Pope Francis’ participation in these events is still uncertain due to health reasons.
