According to the Vatican document, in the last 24 hours the Holy Father has shown a slight and continuous improvement. In addition, ‘the slight renal insufficiency detected in recent days has been resolved’.

The Holy See also assures that a CT scan of the chest, carried out on Tuesday night, showed a normal evolution of the inflammatory lung condition and that laboratory and haematological tests, carried out on Wednesday, confirmed the improvement observed yesterday.

Prognosis remains guarded

Pope Francis ‘continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy and, to date, has not presented asthmatic respiratory crises. Respiratory physiotherapy continues. Despite the slight improvement, the prognosis remains guarded.’
