Vatican Post Office Launches Commemorative Stamp for World Youth Day

The Vatican Postal Service has issued a new commemorative stamp on the occasion of World Youth Day (WYD).

Newsroom (09/07/2023 18:15, Gaudium Press) The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Governorate of the Vatican City State has issued a commemorative stamp and postmark for the 38th World Youth Day (WYD) that will take place next August.

The stamp, printed with the WYD logo, measures 30×40 mm and was released yesterday (July 6) at a price of €3.10 each. The edition of the new stamp is composed of 45 thousand units.

The logo for WYD in Lisbon was designed by young Portuguese Beatriz Roque Antunes. “This symbol depicts, against the background of a large cross, the dynamism of Mary visiting Elizabeth, in keeping with the motto of WYD: Mary got up and left without delay (Lk 1:39),” explains the Vatican press release about the launch.

In addition, the Vatican has issued a commemorative stamp 38 mm in diameter. The stamp features the image of the boat that appears on the shield of Lisbon, the profile of Our Lady and the inscription “XXXVIII WYD Lisbon 2023” and “Poste Vaticano – Die Emissionis 06.07.2023.” (FM)
